“Every child in America should be acquainted with his own country. He should read books that furnish him with ideas that will be useful to him in life and practice. As soon as he opens his lips, he should rehearse the history of his own country.” Noah Webster, On the Education of Youth in America, 1788

The attached image is of a 1937 stamp which honored Virginia Dare. Virginia was the child of Eleanor and Ananias Dare. She was the first child of English parents who was born in the American Colonies. She was born on Roanoke Island in August 1587. This area is located in the state of North Carolina.

How different the education  our children receive is from what was espoused by Noah Webster. We, as concerned parents and adults, must teach our children about the amazing country in which we live. Raising children who learn out the founding of the United States, and understand the Founding Documents, is What Is Right With America!
