“Truth is great, and will prevail if left to herself, that she is the proper and sufficient antagonist to error, and has nothing to fear from the conflict, unless by human interposition disarmed of her natural weapons free argument and debate, errors ceasing to be dangerous when it is permitted freely to contradict them:”
This is the final assumption listed in the Virginia Statue of Religious Freedom. The phrase is truly thought provoking. Truth has no fear from conflict. It is only when discussion and debate is limited, or even prohibited, that danger rears its ugly head. Have our elected officials fostered the inspection of proposed changes in the law, or have they made changes without the ability of the public to inspect and comment upon them. Have decisions been made or actions taken only to be minimized or hidden from those who will be directly impacted? What sort of national discussion, as opposed to meaningless protests or disregarded townhall meetings, has been conducted on important topics of the day?
This is our republic, and we are entitled to discuss and debate changes that impact its future. Please take a moment to consider how you can seek the truth in the matters that are being discussed, decided, or acted upon in Washington, D.C. We should have no fear of seeking the truth. Truth is What IS Right With America.
